What is our plan of action?
Informing and educating the public, still seems to be the most important way of getting our message across. Only then can we expect people to become actively involved in saving the Renosterveld, our Floral Kingdom and ultimately, our World Heritage!
There are different ways of becoming involved in this effort:
- By donating funds
- By donating land for rehabilitation
- By taking part in conservation activities such as hacking (eradicating foreign plant species).
- By simply spreading the word and supporting our cause.
The Media has a major role to play as far as informing and educating the public go.
Press releases, television broadcasts etc. can all contribute to reach thousands of people with our message! We need to brand our ‘product’ for extra impact – get into the homes of people and make sure that we can not be ignored!
A Proper budget is crucial as marketing and advertising can be very costly. This crisis affects all South Africans and therefore every contribution and every donation, no matter how big or how small, will make a difference.
FUNDING AND SPONSORSHIP STRUCTURE
The two main sources of income would be donations by the general public, organizations and the corporate sector, as well as sponsorships, which will probably mainly come from companies and groups who are either directly or indirectly involved in conservation efforts Apart from receiving very positive exposure, these companies will also be recognized for their contributions through e.g. incentives offered to them by the Renosterveld Trust, incorporating company logos and brand marks in our marketing and advertising campaigns etc.
The Small Five Club is an initiative which we will launch for our corporate sponsors. This will enable the Renosterveld Trust to link up with certain commercial brands in five categories.
